I found this American Standard cast iron boiler at a local church and they were kind enough to let me play with it. I found soot under two of the five cast sections in just a small area. Does this indicate a leak? The rest of the boiler looks clean. Little flakes of carbon seem to be leaking out intermittently at the breeching when the ID fan is operating. Could this be a result of the sooting or is it indicitive of another problem? The boiler is located in the basement in an interior room. The air supply is a 10" duct. Is this adequate? |
