- Reed started out as a Nuclear Plant Operator in the Navy in 1982. In the civilian world, Reed has operated and managed many large and small plants.
- Reed has been active in the development of exams for many purposes. These include electrical exams, mechanical aptitude exams and a wide variety of boiler exams. These exams are used by Sprung Services for screening and other purposes.
- Reed has operated or managed over 300 boilers during his career.
- Reed founded Sprung Services in 1997 after managing a very similar company
Reed works with course development and teaches some of the courses offered by the company.
Gordy Nordby, Minnesota Chief A Boiler Engineer

- Gordy has been teaching stationary engineering at MNSCU for over 18 years.
- Gordy has been a Minnesota Chief "A" Engineer since 1990.
- Gordy started out in the US Navy. During his 6 years in the Navy, Gordy completed training and certifications for automatic boiler controls, gauge calibration and vibration analysis.
- Gordy spent 10 yrs as a Pipefitter/HVAC shop Foreman.
- Gordy is also an ASE- Master Machinist and an ASE- Mechanic.
Gordy primarily teaches our STS-1 seminars. In addition to his in-depth knowledge of boiler operations and maintenance, Gordy offers a tremendous mechanical background and many years of real-world experience!

- High-Pressure Steam Plant Operator in a coal-fired plant in the US Air Force - 3 years.
- High-Pressure Steam Plant operator for private industry - 6 years.
- Minnesota Chief A License since 1979.
- Boiler Inspector for Western National Insurance Company - 16 years.
- Chief Boiler Inspector, State of MN - 1995 to 1999.
- Authorized Inspector Supervisor with OneCIS Insurance since 1999. Working with new construction of items built to the ASME boiler and pressure vessel code.
- Currently supervises about 8 other commissioned boiler inspectors.
Jim consults with course development and teaches the exam prep course. Jim will teach most of the short seminar courses developed by Sprung Training Systems.

- Over 25 years of experience in power plant operations and training.
- Significant experience in the nuclear field, both Navy and civilian.
Dirk is currently teaching teaching some Exam Preparation classes as well as some STS-1 courses.

- Since graduation, Leslie has worked with Sprung Services and Sprung Training in finance, accounting and training course development.
Leslie will help manage all Sprung Training System courses including course development and actual instruction. Leslie will be involved in teaching mathematics as required by the new boiler laws and other classes as appropriate for her background.
